Hi All and Happy Friday!

We hope you’ve had a week well spent! This week we want to share something from the heart:

While we try to post motivating or inspiring health-related topics, at times, life throws curve balls at us and this week was an example of that. Through social media, I found out about the sudden passing of a friend that I’d lost touch with. We met at a soccer field on Pearl Harbor. He was a Fire Control Tech (a missile launcher) aboard a submarine and I later introduced him to his then future wife. I was his best man at their wedding and they went on to have two beautiful daughters. It was difficult to find out recently that they had divorced and although I had thought about reaching out to him, I never did. I challenge you on a daily basis to check in on your mental and emotional health as well as reach out and check in with that friend or relative to say hi.

  • Something that helped me process this through the week was a technique called S.A.V.E.R.S (thanks to Hal Elrod’s, The Miracle Morning) which I do (almost) daily and stands for:

    • practicing Silence

    • writing Affirmations (written, spoken)

    • taking myself through or listening to guided Visualizations

    • Exercising

    • Reading

    • Scribing (aka journaling).

  • I try to spend at least 5min on each of these things first thing in the morning.

  • Listening to this song:

  • Attempting to live by this inspiring quote:

    • “Let us prepare our minds as if we’d come to the very end of life. Let us postpone nothing. Let us balance life’s books each day… The one who puts the finishing touches on their life each day is never short of time.”

      —Seneca, Moral Letters, 101.7b-8a

  • Being grateful for Elysia’s prayers, for her being there me through this, and for our shared love of double chocolate chip cookies (which I bake from scratch)!

Aloha and please stay tuned for getting back on track with more photos, videos, and journey updates!
